ive got a chance to buy a '59 duo-sonic. but i dont know much about it. can anyone tell me what they are worth?
the one im looking at comes with the original case, its in pretty good condition. it has a couple nicks and a little rust. the guitar is all original.

i think they are worth around 1400-2000.
maybe more, i have a 59 partscaster.
its like a 59 body,guard,bridge, and neck pup(and toggly i think)
but a 60 musicmaster neck.
great sounding and playing guitar, i actually prefer it to all my others at the moment.
beware of incredibly low output pickups.
fender did a weird thing back then, louder than god amps, and low output pups.

If it's got the gold anusized guard and bridge cover and all OG parts, that's a real guitar, rust or no. If it's all original in any shape, it could go like Robert said. Anything swapped could take it down to around a grand. That's when you may want to see pics of the pots and neck, weighed against alerting the guy if he is selling it for too cheap. If it's $800 or less, get in the car. At least take a look up close. Hell, get some photos.

i remember seeing a couple of white duo-s one was an early 59 with maple neck and one was a late 59 with rosewood(apparently this is incredibly rare)
but they were identical in color and shape and they were like 1,400.00 each at the chicago music exchange about 6 years ago(at the old location)
so it seems that on the ebay market the same guitars would sell for about that much, maybe a bit more, maybe....

everybody has a strat ... strats are boring. I wish I had this instead of the Squieraen wrote:Bah, those are kids guitars. Get a Strat.
