red witch moon phaser
well, i'm not a fan of phasers, but a friend of mine (who plays in a stoner/psych band) got a red witch moon phaser and i went to their practice this afternoon and it's defo not your average phaser, it sounds pretty unique, it has trem sounds too, like ufo hovering type sounds too lol it thought it was cool, not all phasers suck it just sounded brilliant in that type genre

These are fairly pricey boutique Phasers as i remember. Got great reviews. I love a good phaser personally, the wave is much less harsh than Flange. The beauty in the phaser is with the subtleties, most people go for a tripped out full on swirl and say "huh... this is shit". In fact there should be courses or tutorials, i might do some myself on youtube...

one time he was using it during some pyschedelic improv breakdown and i loved the texture it was creating, like ..i don't know how to describe it..like a .. swamp ? it was perfect, just clean guitar, bass player was using a wah (i'm not a fan of wahs) but using it in a way that suited the part perfectly, adding to the swamp feel haha and then going back to the song (heavy) he twisted the knob with his shoe to a trem like setting so it almost stuttered into the next part, it was great to hear a type of effect i normally don't like being used in such a way that it just.. works.
oh man, earlier someone posted that Larry Graham youtube video where he playing that phased out bass riff, holy shit, so awesome. let me see if I can find it again...BradK wrote:Phaser usage in stoner/doom bands is usually really well done. I have been jamming Ufomammut hard as FUCK lately and they are great with phasers. They use them very sparingly, and it's always really cool sounding when they do.

i thought gilmour had quite a low resonance sound, quite smooth. though it's hard to tell what is unvibe and what is phaser sometimes.Mike wrote:This.Progrockabuse wrote:i love that slow phaser sound that gilmour gets on breathe and shine on.
Phaser with a high resonance setting is not for me.
