japanese surplus mustang!

Post by jramonitos »

HEY GUYS!
I'm a newbie here although i've been checking this forum every day since 2 weeks ago when i bought a fender mustang from a friend for 4thousand pesos equivalent to 100 US dollars where he scored it at some Japanese surplus here in Cebu Phil. Everything is original except the color of the body. the original color was surf green and painted it to an ugly burst color. At the back it says CRAFTED IN JAPAN and the serial number is V029796. I'm planning to paint it back to its original color because the paint is chipping off and you can actually see the surf green... I also would like to ask if you guys know what year is this made and what year is this reissued for based on the serial number... sorry i dont know enough infos bout mustangs. thanks for the help.

That's a pretty snazzy deal. You can check the serial number on the Fender website. V+ 6 digits is '96-'97.

Ridiculous price! :D It's a '69 reissue, made in 1996/97. Welcome to the boards.

Awesome find. It'll look great with a refinish.

With that scratchplate I'd go for Oly white rather than surf green, as much as I love the latter.

It's probably that same ostensibly-blue-but-very-obviously-green-if-you-hold-it-up-to-something-blue blue the CIJs came in.
