whats wrong with you idiots with all this bolt on hate.
look at 90% of your fucking guitars laying around your room. they are all bolt ons.
who gives a shit? my two wilshires aren't bolt on and they sound exactly the fucking same as a bolt on guitar.
all this stupid fucking bolt on hate is right up there with amber switch tips and gold guards, except that other shit is ugly as fuck and bolt on necks aren't

Its not the bolt-on as such Rob, its just a bolt-on Junior is just wrong. The LP JUNIOR POLICE would have you for such crimes.robroe wrote:whats wrong with you idiots with all this bolt on hate.

I don't have a problem with bolt ons. I'd gladly spend hundreds and hundreds on a nice Fender. I think it's mostly be association. We all know that Fender have made some fantastic guitars over the years, and most of us will admit that for Gibson too. I've never played a Gibson style guitar that was bolt-on and found it to be good. Usually if they're going for bolt on it's for price, and if they're doing that they are probably skimping elsewhere. I will happily say I couldn't listen to a recording and tell you with any accuracty at all the details of the neck construction. I could perhaps hazard a guess that it was a tele being used, or humbuckers, but still not often.
I think it's quite likely that there are fantastic bolt-on gibson style guitars out there. I don't know any that are, but I haven't played that many guitars. I will say the following things though.
1. Low end Gibson style guitars come in both bolt on and set neck.
2. Every bolt on one that I've played hasn't been worth the time.
3. Some of the set neck ones have been fantastic for the money.
Personally I'm disappointed when I see a Gibson style guitar and then see a neck plate. A little of it will be mojo snobbery, and while most people here aim to debunk it I don't think any of us are immune to it. Most of it relates to the three points above.

This is it, Gibson guitars are set neck. If cheap brands like 'Swift' or whoever can can knock out set neck guitars for under $150 then why cant Epiphone, especially when its supposed to be an affordable reincarnation of a famous model.
The Les Paul Junior is loved for its simplicity and the fact it has a lot of wood mass that resonates as one piece, you can argue bolt-on necks are just as good but that is not what has attracted players to the Junior for decades.
I have nothing against bolt-ons, i own 10.

Bolt on necks on Gibson style guitars are fucking wack. Not only that it's not just that it's a bolt on, it's the worst style too, with the stupid fucking Fender style plate. They could have done a bolt-in like on the cheaper Duesenbergs, or a tennon bolt on like on the old Japanese LP knockoffs.
That shit is hella corny, SORRY ROB.
