For Christmas, I bought a minty EHX Deluxe Memory Man off eBay. This pedal originally came from AnalogMan (probably early- or mid-2008) and it has the AnalogMan impedance and gain mods.
The problem I'm having is that the pedal snaps, crackles, and pops constantly. The loud crackles happen whether the pedal is on or off, plugged in or unplugged, and regardless of whether there's an input signal from a guitar. They start to die down a little once the unit has warmed up for about 15 minutes, but they never go away completely. The pops and crackle have basically made this pedal unusable.
What could be causing this, and whom should I contact? The unit has the original warranty cards, but I'm not the original owner. I don't mind sending the pedal back to AnalogMan and paying reasonable costs for repairs, but I wonder if I'd have better luck going with EHX directly.
I'm planning to fire off some e-mails to EHX and AnalogMan this weekend, but thought that I'd start a thread here first for any advice.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I tend not to buy things like used pedals off eBay in case there's a problem like this, but I felt a little better seeing the "AnalogMan" sticker on the side of pedal. I figured it would be next best thing to having a true-blue warranty.purplehaze19x wrote:Hmm, not sure what would cause the problems. I would sent it to anolog man, EH may not touch it because its been modded, or they will undo the mods and return it to stock? and it may not be cheap
Lots of on-line reviewers seem to be very happy with AnalogMan's customer service -- now I get to find out first hand.

I plan to do that, too, but the auction ended several weeks ago and feedback has already been provided on both ends of the deal.Hurb wrote:Contact the seller.
I have a feeling that the seller put this pedal up for sale on account of the snap/crackle/pop from the pedal, and I'm kicking myself for not asking about this beforehand. We did have an exchange of e-mail prior to my bidding on it (I asked for more info about the AnalogMan mods), but the seller gave no indication that there were any "under the hood" problems with this pedal.

er, sounds like you want to keep it away from flammable items.Armchair Bronco wrote:The problem I'm having is that the pedal snaps, crackles, and pops constantly. Why did you OK the feedback before hearing the pedal? It's clearly faulty and the responsibility of the seller to fix/refund you.Armchair Bronco wrote:For Christmas, I bought a minty EHX Deluxe Memory Man off eBay.
