thanks! glad you like it. i'll think of you if i see a good deal on one again, and let you know!robroe wrote:that melody maker is my favorite guitar on the forum right now.
...the one they got at rumble seat they want 3500 for it
3500 is pretty high, but that one is in VG condition. still i think 700 was a great deal for mine. i actually prefer the greened version of pelham blue to the original color.
i can see where youd get that. its cool. yeah, i wont change a thing about the dano made one, except i just might cut a new piece of rosewood for it, with a bit of compensation to help with intonation. might be more trouble than its worth. maybe ill just get a replacement one and cut that.stewart wrote: ah right, sorry! when you wrote silvertone i assumed you meant the electric one.
nah, its an early MIJ, e series serial, i think it was made 85 or 86. its almost NOS, really. pretty remarkable. it plays and looks every bit as good as any strat ive ever seen. pretty much identical to what was being called a "fender" MIJ at the time. i paid 200 for it, but i think its worth a bit more. the "JV" series are worth alot more than that, and these are pretty similar.Nick wrote:William, is that Squier a Korean model? My local shop has (or had at least) one just like it for $200, I was thinking about snatching it up but then realized even a good strat is still a strat Laughing . They do play good though.

don't know why i've never tried a bad monkey before. played one out of the blue and brought it. the shop had a classic player strat like mine and a blues deluxe. oh boy, it sounds so good. can't believe i've not tried one sooner.

it's annoying. i get a really nice sound at home, go to practice, crank the amp, attack of the killer treble!!! though the past couple of practices, i've finally got it sussed. i think it's mainly the trait of my strat and the blues deluxe. since i've ditched the bd-2, everything is a lot better.

it's defiantly better than a tubescreamer, not as mid-humpy. the eq section is really good, i can get a really good balance that works with singles and humbuckers better than the bd-2. cleans up nice, you can push the tweed nicely, no noise. not tried the simulated out yet.Mike wrote:The Bad Monkey is apparently a Tubescreamer derivative but with more flexible tone shaping, I tried one but not under the best circumstances (solid-state amp, pushy shopkeeper, wank Strat) but they get rave reviews so I'm sure at volume through a tube amp they're lovely.
