FAO electronics/valve guru type people

Ok, so there I was playing away through my SD TT Classic (twin valve overdrive pedal) and all of a sudden gone where my glorious rawk tones, to be replaced with what sounded like a detuned radio. Replication: HSSSSSHHHASWWAAHHHHHHHHSSSSSSHHHHHSSHHHWARRRRR.

After doing some idiot checks, I discovered that something was seriously amiss. In bypass (as expected) we have normal tone straight from guitar to amp, but with the pedal engaged on either the rhythm or lead circuit and with all levels turned up to maximum, I can hear a little bit of the guitar sound coming through but it's mostly this aforementioned hiss. Having said that, sometimes when I turn it on now it's completely silent with all the levels turned up (again normal in bypass as expected).

So, I assume that one of the valves has gone pop (apparently the 6021 valves in this pedal are supposed to last much longer than 'ordinary' valves theoretically making this unlikely)? Is this hsshhhhwharrringg classically symptomatic of that or could it be something else? (I appreciate that's a fairly open-ended question)

It sounds like the it would be the pedal. Is that the seymour duncan twin tube?

edit - I'm being a spanner, I thought you meant valves in your amp.

No, sorry, should have been a bit clearer and yes it is indeed the twin tube classic. I guess all I was asking really was: is the horrible hissing etc a typical 'there goes a valve' thing?

It would be a "That's a Warranty Issue" for me.

There you go. If you have to poke about yrself, first check the tubes. They're probably some chinese things, which usually have sketchy tolerances. Just make sure you don't do anything warranty-voiding.

No warranty I'm afraid, it's secondhand from the bay. The tubes are allegedly USA made. I'll open it up and see if there any clues inside.
