Slide?

Post by DGNR8 »

Who plays slide? I am guessing Robroes does with that killer dobroes. I think I just figured out how to do it in open G tuning. Fuckin Ay. You Tube rules. It's like Open Source computing for everyday things.

I do. I need to buy a proper slide though, mine is made from a ratchet bit that I drilled out hahaha.
When I tried out rob's at doogfest I realised that my slide is really really heavy.

Love slide in open C or open D. Also DADGAD or like CGCGCC

yep

i've one of those dunlop heavy wall slides that i put on my middle finger and with open tuning and a metal pinky slide, you can do some really nice things with it but i only just use it when i'm not really writing songs but just feel like improvising a bit on my own. when i first started experimenting with it i used a metal/aluminium cap from some cosmetics thing from my mum lol but it worked nice.

Some woman in a video used a lipstick tube when her glass one broke. That jet slide is more like it for me. Mine is some huge brass thing. I ended up using it on my middle finger, which is strong and agile (and sends a message) but it's a bit of a loss for other playing. I have not played alt tunings before so it's taking me a while to sort through it.

Does anyone ever use minor tuning for regular playing? It looks like there's an easy-to-get-to Dm. There's also an AUG tuning! (Augmented fourths). Minor has some appeal because you can raise it one note to make it major.

I made a bunch of slides out of bottles of wine bottles.

Anyone interested? I have 20 right now that only need some emery cloth on the cut side for them to be 100% childproof.

I'd be willing to send 2-3 to anyone interested for shipping cost only. Just give me an approximate finger size so I can ballpark one for ya. Only stipulation is if you can't find one that fits, give them away to guitarist friends, I've made about 50 of them and they are now in the hands of 15 guys so far.

So yeah, anyone?

I'm up for that. My finger size is massive and unweildy.

Fuckin hell:

I've been playing this for about half an hour now. I've nearly bit through my bottom lip, my jaws aching from biting so hard for so long, and I've got a head ache from going cross eyed looking at the fingerboard, but it has definitely been worth it.

holy crap, he's got some weird Banana maple neck 80's thing, on an old Kay guitar with the kleenex box pickups. That thing is a mutt.
