Small flat-head screwdriver, they're often called "precision" or "watchmakers" screwdrivers. They look like this:

That was in my head but I kept thinking it was wrong and that I was thinking of "Jeweller's Saw"

Looks like someone has broken it for you, which is nice.
Why is it crap in a pedal chain? Is it a Germanium Fuzz? Have you tried it first in line?

1. It is not acceptable for the trimpot to be destroyed like that on a new pedal
2. If it's not working in your pedal chain it is poorly designed.
I would return it and ask for a refund.

I don't think you've done anything wrong, that trimpot should not look like that.

Good news. The trimpot thing is not great though. I would expect better for the money.

There's no chance that you need an allen key for it is there? Or maybe one of those triangular type things? That'd weird to put on something that is supposed to by regulated by the end user, like.

I meant it would be weird if it was some rare type of screw head, like the triangular ones.
