the fan fret intrument are more "in tune" that a normal onc, and the "stupid looking" necks are the ones that are just about perfect.

I think it's probably a good idea, however:

this annoys me. I've read Lehmann's article and I can say that whilst it's a nice piece of fancy, it's probably balls, and is certainly very imaginative (made up). I think that this is a bit cheap, the way that they're trying to attach the name of JS Bach to a guitar neck where his name really, really shouldn't be. Lehmann's article and his research, whilst it apparently yields some nice results with regards temperament, is based entirely on cenjecture and has absolutely no evidence, other than the fact that he managed to fluke a good sounding temperament out if it.

i think that for the most part it is an overal improvement BUT! it would absolutely cause problems if you tuned you gear like aen or sy.
i actually just remember playing a bass at a music store called "folk music" or something to that effect, but anyway.
the low e and b strings were fretted on the same fret, but the d and g were fretted on a different fret that was at a slight slant.
i wish i could remember who made it but it was all hand made, fantastic design wise but the overal body was ugly as hell.
