I hate to give these guys the attention, but... (Craigslist)

Post by jeff »

Headline of a New York Craigslist post:

BUILD YOUR OWN 65 or 66 FENDER MUSTANG ELECTRIC GUITAR - $1000 (SoHo)

full post

This, to me, is shady on so many levels. Again, I feel bad even posting it because I don't want to endorse the shady, but I'm wondering if it gives everyone else the creeps as much as it does me.

I don't know who it is, but I haven't seen it posted before. I assumed from the location that they were based in the city, but maybe not? Noho is based in California, correct?

If this post is from anyone on the board, I apologize, I really don't mean to offend anybody. It just seems like they are selling parts that are difficult or impossible to authenticate and charging more money than I would expect.

I'd imagine Noho is on the other side of Hollywood from Soho? Unless it's somewhere named after the place in London.

Noho was name that two ex-members made guitars under. I wouldn't worry about offending them, they don't post here anymore and there's not likely to be many people on here that'll defend them or jump on you.

I doubt it's them anyway.

Well, this is Soho as in South of Houston in NYC, on the other side of the country. So I don't think it's them.

When I was reading this I just imagined Williams (I think) avatar.
I read the listing and it has SCAM written all over it.

I wonder if it's a regular RR person. If they were serious, they might try posting pics of their work. Didn't Guitarfather live in Staten Island?

I saw that and thought it was shady as well. But there are so many shady people on NY craigslist.

An old Shortscaler. I think he used to make decals or something.
