Big Muff Decision

Post by jimib »

I've been borrowing a friends Russian Big Muff and decided I need one for myself.
I was thinking of getting the little big muff as I like the smaller EHX pedals, and from clips I've seen comparing a little and US I can't tell any difference.
Little Big Muff will cost US$82 posted to Australia from ebay which is cheaper than I thought it would cost.

OR

Is there an awesome clone that someone on here makes that would be better? Price definitely is a factor though

Mike does a green big muff clone:

Postage to aus might be a bit steep though, ask him in the whorehouse.

really not as beefy as the pi?
hmmm

well ive only been using the black russian and thought that was great

although after watching this the wicker BM sounds pretty cool, and i think the russian sounds different in a good way.
what exactly sets the green muff apart from the original?

Youtube doesn't like regional crap in the link, so you have to delete the '.au' the same way we have to delete .uk from the start.

Tim makes really good Green Big Muff clones, they're smaller than mine and I think cheaper as well. PM timhulio.

i had the russian like 5+ years ago, great pedal, very creamy.
at the moment i have a lil big muff that im loaning to a friend, im not a huge fan of it, but i think thats becuz i have 4 other dirt boxes that i like more.
its still a great pedal, i just don't think that it could ever be in my top 3.
the muff overdrive actually beats the lil big muff in my book.

and i can also vouch for mikes stuff, one of the pedals i like more than the lil big muff is my salt booster.

I forgot about Aen's fantastic Eau Claire Thunder pedal, it's a riff on the Big Muff with lots of tone shaping options, both crazy and rawksome. Stay tuned for when it drops.

yeah, the eua claire is a great option, its like a big muff that goes to 63 on all the dials plus it has a built in booster, a diode switch, a trim, and a noise, feedbacker thingy on it.
but it hasn't been officially released yet(i don't think anyway)
and i think retail is like 225 or something which is pretty good when you consider it basically houses 3 boxes in one with more shaping options.
( i.e. its like a big muff, with a muff overdrive, and then a feedbacker, with more tonal options)
