Rosewood neck for a strat?

Post by MrJulius »

Anyone have any idea where I can get a pre fretted (and possible inlay?) rosewood strat neck? I love the feel of a natural rosewood neck (Mcarty PRS = best neck I have ever put my hand on). I don't like the finish on my mexican strat neck and I know it isn't normal, but what the hell, experimenting is more fun than following the norm.

So yeah, anyone have any help?

not cheap, but warmoth necks are on the whole as good as fender CS stuff.

Did you say Fender Custom Shop?

I don't think so. Warmoth are hacks in my opinion. They make half decent stuff in my opinion and it often takes fucking ages. They were a joke making my Duo-Sonic neck, 6 months.

shit - that wasn't from the pre-made showcase section though was it?

i've played a few on other guitars and seemed to be much better than mim fender, and easily as good or better than stock usa fender. plus you get the benefits of weird wood options. some people have commented that they can be a bit hit-and-miss though...

It doesn't matter. They quoted 4 weeks. It took 6 months.

Cancellation but no discount. Seeing as I needed a 24" neck I was completely stuck with them.

I asked for a discount and they basically just said, "Fuck Off if you're unhappy"

THIS one isn't rosewood, but it's interesting. There's a Sambora style one on ebay right now, for what that's worth. I bought a bound Allparts strat neck for $135. Nice thing about a paddle head is that you have some versatility. But Allparts might be one way to go to avoid Warmoth.

I have to recommend JC's Guitars when it comes to necks. Check it out here. The Malikaster has a beautiful maple beck thanks to these guys. Absolute top quality stuff, and the natural finish is fantastic. Despite being in the UK, they got the neck to me quickly, and the prices are very good for what you get. Have a look.

So for solid rosewood War is going to be my only choice (besides eBay) no matter if I like it or not?

I think he's looking for a neck made entirely from rosewood. Not just the fretboard?

prs (urgh) mccarty, rosewood neck.

don't think that many people make rosewood necks. warmoth is the obvious choice, but if you're in the UK you could try talking to kavanagh customs - quite small so you should be able to talk to them in person..
