Any Hagstrom fans here?

Possibly. I'm just not too sure about shipping it across the pond, and since it's got a (albiet beat up) hard shell case with it, and it's this old and in this good of cosmetic condition, I'd definitely not be taking the neck off to ship it cheaper. It has a few quirks that need to be dealt with before I'd consider it gig worthy. It had a few cracks in the top between the neck pocket and neck pickup which is a pretty common problem in old vikings. It could use a "shim" in the side of the neck pocket to keep it from shifting slightly and throwing it out of tune. I can't remember if I have the neck shimmed normally or not, all will be revealed when I take pics this weekend. It's also missing some neck binding, has a very small ding in the top (next to the top f hole, somewhat visable in the picture), has a pickguard crack, and one of the knobs looks like it got some moisture inside at some point and the "tone" gold part is kind of hard to read. When I first got it, the first few frets were a little buzzy, but after a few setups and playing it regularly for a while that problem sorted itself out I think.
Right now I'm hoping to get $700 + shipping for it if I sell it on the boards, which I think is fair considering both the amazing cosmetic condition and the work it needs done. I would also consider using it as a partial trade towards a Rickenbacker bass which I doubt is going to happen.
Don't hold me to anything until I make the ad though, until I take it apart and figure things out again I don't really have a solid idea of what I'm selling. I might decide to hold out for a little while and see if the market for these improves on ebay, when I first got it a few years ago they were selling every week for over $1500.

Do the Hagstrom 12-Strings play well?Sparky wrote:I used to have a 1967 Hagstrom XII for a bit. The switches had been replaced with knobs and the new wiring was atrocious! The guitar had seen much more action than the one in the picture below, but it was a 3TS model.
Bought it on ebay, sold it on ebay
Oh, I found pictures of mine:
My Egmond had been completely clear coated when I found it, pickups and all. The same kind of people who can't bother to take a guitar apart to clear coat it, they would paint chrome hardware black. Those people also clear coat in acrylic.
