I think it would be easier to do it on a new builder thing. Just because it will need a load of new pickguards and stuff.

Once this is done though I will start a new one, jaguar/jazzmaster etc, and once they are done I can link them all with a kind of contents menu at the start. So it opens up with a choice of which one you want to build. So they are all contained in one program thing, might be a big file but people could download to their PC and it will run faster than hosting it on tinternet.

It might be a big ask, but can we get a neater overall layout? The irregular sized rectangles with the bridge selections look sloppy and take up a lot of space.

There are some small things that could be improved to improve the details. The relic Mustang bridge is too dark and some things have glare that doesn't match up to the flat lighting on the other parts.

I think the way forward is to have a list of criteria (different bridge models, pickups etc) and work through them with some sort of colour scheme (have the list in full with green for finished parts, blue for done but can be improved (such as the relic bridge) and things like that). Making the list will be a bit tedious, as will the editing but with the editing done there will be a library of parts that will make the jazzmaster models and others a much simpler exercise.

I'll happily get stuck in again with parts, but I'm not sure which bits to do. I think if things were happening with it there would be renewed enthusiasm and the ball would get rolling again.

Right, i need to find somewhere that hosts it and allows you to open it in a window.

Added pearl dots, mustang switches, frans custard body colour, and some screws that you can drag n drop. The screws look too big here, i have made them smaller since:

Yeah the layout needs sorting. I will do that now. I'm going to keep it similar but will make everything neater and smaller. The relic bridge and stuff can all be replaced easily as well. If you could find a better relic bridge, that would be cool.

I think the layout would look alot better if the buttons for bridges necks and stuff were just text, so the choices read like a list. The different shades of grey and the different box sizes throws me off a bit.

also the EMGs look a bit small, although whoever's putting emgs on a mustang needs a good kicking.

Yeah text could work, I just though having boxes makes it a bit easier to see where the different buttons are. I will do it with text then.. will be easy to do.

EMG's, maybe i should just delete them...

I think we just need a bigger selection of knobs and pickups maybe, so people can really go to town on the design. Also, a few parts like the relic mustang bridge are too dark or don't match other parts in terms of lighting and stuff. But i think we shouldn't replace stuff until we have done everything....

I think there's got to be a better way of having the knobs and pickups available. What you have works but it's abit messy and inefficient. I'm not very good with the code so I don't have suggestions but I think we could perhaps do it a bit more in the style of the kisakae way with sub menus. So you'd have a sub menu for hardware and knobs pickups, switches and the like in there.

Perhaps we could get a grey overlay in chequered board style to make it obvious which colours on the colour chart aren't available? It makes it seems unfinished to click on inactive icons. That are perhaps simply have the unavailable colours faded.

On the whole it's looking good but is still untidy. I have to admit I quite like the way the offset dressing rooms work in terms of neatness although I don't like them in terms of options. If we could combine the options with a tidy interface it would be fantastic.

I keep saying we, when really I'm just here saying it doesn't look sexy enough. I'll happily muck in with some donkey work if I can have some guidance as to what to go for, but I don't want to step on too many toes with the GUI parts.

I think this is what I'm going to do.. instead of adding new parts and stuff I'm going to focus on making it look better and hopefully adding stuff into menus which you can open/close. therefore it should be more tidy and take up less space. Also I will take note of the colors that dont work and fade them a bit. I will post it when I'm done and you can see what you think, and then we can start adding more bits and finishing. I reckon it can be finished soon. :)

Here's what I suggest as a possible method.

One sub menu for colours and pickguards. It will include relicing, and perhaps one or two other related options such as comp stripes.
One for hardware. Everything on the body that isn't the pickguard goes here.
One for the neck. Fretboards, inlays, headstocks tuners and all that jazz.

I'm off out on the piss shortly so I can't do anything this evening. If you can make a list of parts that need tidying up or obtaining that would be superb. If not no problem and I'll crack on with it myself soon. I'll work with Zaphod on neatening up the parts over the next week or so and try and get the bulk done.

If you don't mind I would like to have a go at arranging the interface, but I don't want to write off the work you've already done so I'll be cautious with it.

Zaphod - could you sort the decals? I was pretty poor at it when I had a go last.

Do you have flash? Do you want to rearrange it in flash or just the look of it? If you do a photoshop of how you want it to look i can then try and build it in flash.

Perhaps flick through the "pictures of your shortscales" thread and note the various types? I don't know much either to be honest.
