Yeah that's usually the case. It looks more symmetrical with that too, which is nice.

The lead guitarist in my band has a late model Gibson V that I just put a DiMarzio Evo II in. Not only is it sexy but it sounds amazing now to boot. Can't say I cared much for the stock pickups though. I definitely prefer it to the pointier ones though.

I went to Guitar Center today and I saw a new Gibson Flying V wth the glossy Ebony finish for $799.I asked the salesman why it was so cheap and he said "It's on clearance.We aren't going to carry them anymore".WTF ???
