i'm actually quite annoyed now, although i bet aen took it all in his stride.
I've seen his demos before on youtube, he did the burns buzzaround demo, kay demo. He's got a lot of good stuff.

Fuck 'em - not your typical Dwarfcraft punters, anyway.
Anyhow, in other, more cheerful news, I've had a chance to play them both with my tele and the Matamp, in what I like to call the "Power of Suggestion Sessions". And the verdict is; they sound fucking ace. Knew I'd love the fuzz, and it's another winner - even better than the French Toast (which is another pedal I love to bits). Really complex fuzz sound, thick, with some octave even, but cleans up with volume and handles chords well. And the sustain is really long, but with really crisp muting (not that I've been chugga-chugga-ing, obviously).
I was in two minds about buying the TOD, since I'm not a huge overdrive fan, but it's maybe my favourite of the two (not praise I'd bandy about lightly). It's not a massively high gain pedal, but has a clever little EQ, and does the neat trick of making your guitar sound the same but better. My treble booster's like that, too. I've just been pretending to be Billy Gibbons.
Both pedals are loud as fuck too. Double thumbs up from me.

God. Reading that forum (what I can anyway) and going back go diystompboxes for a change makes me miss my old workbench and building pedals. I still have my hand drawn schems of stuff I'd breadboarded but not gotten a chance to properly finish. Makes me sad.

Good to hear. I'll demo them both when they arrive.benecol wrote:Fuck 'em - not your typical Dwarfcraft punters, anyway.

Chris, just get back on it, it's never too late to start again, you don't need a workbench - my setup is inauspicious, I have to pack everything under the bed every night when I'm done - I use the kitchen table to work on with newspaper spread around.
Benecol: reading the inordinately long Dano threads so you don't have to.
So, the ognormous Gear Page thread about this has been pulled for legal reasons, the HCEFX thread rumbles on, in which I gleaned the following two bits of info: Paul C (the Timmy's creator) weighed in, and is pretty annoyed but also pretty cool about the whole thing. He seems to be more annoyed about people thinking Dano paid him off, or that his circuit is a clone. Secondly, that Aussie fella who's done the cracking TPOD demo actually has a Timmy, so is going to make a back-to-back comparison vid over the weekend. And is embarrassed that he thought it was a Klon clone when he actually owns the pedal it's a clone of.

I think the fact the treb and basses aren't cuts would through people off. The same physical setting will be not just different but the logarithmic taper of the posts means that...
... still here? It would be logarithmically different.

Nah I think the Peach Fuzz is an original design in itself, although I haven't seen the IC Muff schematic, but noone has said that on FSB.
What I mean is that the treble and bass controls are backwards from the Timmy, which are open (no cut) at 0 and full cut at max. So getting the same settings is backwards because they'll be log pots and so even the midpoints are different. Anyway, I'm sure they can be dialed in to be identical.
