The eariest I'll be buying one is Feb 21st. I'll be buying with gear sales money and will need some time to get the money from that sorted, and that's also payday and I might need a hundred or two extra in cash depending on what I get. Booking in advance London travel can be had for cheap (£10 return + tube fares) so Denmark St is doable. It'll cost the same or less in travel than going somewhere like Birmingham to try lots out. Possibly the weekend of the 28th?

I'd buy something like a Greco LP for £300 without having played it or the same model, but spending this much I definitely want to try a few things before buying one.

So true about Guild, espec. the vintage ones. I have a 1965 Guild CE-100D (I think it's this one)...

I had bought it for my dad years ago but he can't play it anymore unfortunately due to arthritis. Thought about selling it but last I checked the most I would get is $1500 CDN and I think I would rather keep it then sell it for that. Maybe I am confused about what it should be worth but it is a beautiful guitar, Dearmond pickups, etc.. and it just does not seem right to be THAT much less than the equiv. Gibson to me.

I've been thinking about this and have decided to hold off for the time being. It's still on the cards, but very much a 'not in the near future' thing. Perhaps at the end of the summer or so I'll reconsider. Between now and then I'm going to try a lot of archtops though.

I'll still sell the mustang, but keep the jazzbox.
