Marshall JCM800 2204 Gutshots

Post by Mike »

I know Euan at least wanted to see the inside of my amp. Iceybomb spoilers because I took a whack load of pictures.

The outside first:

Fantastic looking guts, loved the russian dolly effect of having a spoiler within a spoiler, but am sad to see you appear to have your fridge next to your radiator. Planet killer.

EDIT: I've got a thingy! Tag title thing! Wossname! Doo-dah thing under my name.

Come live in my house and tell me where I'm supposed to put it.

Also the radiators are rarely on. I'm from the North remember?

Thanks all, except euan. Next time I just won't bother.

I've lived in a little house with crazy fridge placement before (not that your house is small, necessarily). I might take the Matamp apart later, although I'm scared I might not be able to get it back together again.

Don't worry, it is small, we're not exactly wealthy.
Our kitchen is a Galley style tiny thing with no under counter space left so it has to be where it is unfortunately. I'm otherwise extremely environmentally conscious.

Would love to see inside that little box of tricks of yours.

I've never felt so proud - thought I was channelling Stewpot as I posted. Best massive emoticon ever.

It's never going to die. Every time someone posts a swing-and-a-miss, the Chips is coming out.

It's amazing how much rock can come out of something so simple looking. IMO Marshall could have just stoped making amps after they designed the 2204 JCM800. Aside from lacking a reverb this is perfection.

It certainly is a great thing, and I love it. I don't think Marshall have made nothing of note since though. I love my 30th Anniversary Head, which has great Clean and Crunch channels, and the DSL heads are also great in my opinion if you're using them as single channel heads. The Classic channel on those badboys is pretty great.

I've already had two people emailing me after seeing the videos on youtube trying to throw money at me to sell this to them.

The US collector who was interested in my amp just offered me £950 for it.

My initial reaction is actually no. He's a self professed collector, plus it's not like the value won't reach that anyway, and he's in America. If he was in England it might make me think twice, but when you're talking shipping and stuff and insurance, it's not worth my bother for the time being when I like it so much.
