that must be what was inlaid into christopher guest's (nilgel tuffnel's) guitar when i saw spinal tap live. he had this massive quadruple (or more) humbucker guitar with all these tachyometers built in that would actually move the needles when he plaid.

HA HA HA HA. that fucking guitar cracks me up to this day. when he pulled it out, i obviously couldn't see the inlays that denote the notes of the frets, but i was pretty close. close enough to see the tach jump when he played. it's awesome because he treats the guitar with respect, as he in character as nigel...but you know it's a total-piss take.

like harry shearer's bass he played for "gimme some money." it was a double necked bass in the shape of a dollar sign. lol
