From a high school friend. He bought it used as well.
It sat in his closet for too many years and never got played.
I liked it and had the money to buy it.
You know the one... my orange 69 Mustang Comp?

I was a regular there but it closed a few years ago, the owner (Doug) was a Jehovas Witness and went to spread the good word moving to Cumbria. The guitar was a Fiesta Red Fender Jagstang. I could not afford a Jaguar so i got the JS, but i was'nt as knowledgeable back then about set up and got rid of it for the Jap Flying V that i still own to this day.
Weird, that dude had a shop near Carlisle (2000/01ish) That's who I got my old 70s poo brown Musicmaster from. It's a small world!!

Thats right. He kept the Carlisle shop open longer when he moved up there but that too eventually closed. Btw, i bought a white 76 Musicmaster off him lol. Strange.
when we formed the I.C.B.M.s in 2006 and i was playing my les paul the sound was just too off and i noticed a kid in another band around edmonton was selling off his `65 mustang, so i phoned him up and snaked it..
i've never looked back..
I bought mine off of Craigslist, in December 2005, if I remember correctly. A '69 RI Mustang in custard yellow. The guy who sold it to me had bought it new six months before, and had almost never played it. It was mint. He seemed to think it was a shit guitar and implied that I too would want to sell it in a few months due to its suckage.
I still have it (with a few mods) and it's my favourite guitar that I own.

I wish my friends had unwanted Competion Orange Mustangs in their closets...
If we're gonna count the 19" Yamaha I started on then it was at this local auction house that my grandparents used to drag me to. I think they bought it for $10 cause I "might be interested in guitar" - one of those famous-last-words moments.
My '67 Duo-Sonic II came from eBay when I was 14 - I paid $405, which is an insane amount of money when you're reliant on babysitting and birthday checks.
