The Jag-Stang looks like a mustang that's had a stroke.
AV/MIM/MIJ doesn't bother me. The main thing with me is the neck. I was overjoyed when Fender brought out the 72 Tele deluxe RI (or whatever it was, strat headstock), it was very well put together but the neck was too fat for me so I had to pass on it.
Ironically it had the kind of profile that I really loved back when I started to play.
Fender price rise - update

The new Fenders have already skyrocketed in price around here. Six weeks ago, I bought a new RI Mustang bass, selling for the regular price of $666 Canadian dollars (I paid $600 with my -10% coupon). Last week, I went to buy strings in the same shop. The RI Mustang bass was selling for $969! That's almost a 50% increase. How can they charge a grand for an instrument that doesn't even come with a case?

I've managed to buy a Fender Baja Telecaster this week for £399 (best price I could find). As I live in Guernsey I get the VAT off so it's actually £340. I wasn't going to buy for a while but had to before the prices going up...which they've already started doing. I wouldn't be surprised to see them edge up again later this year!

The Classic Player Telecaster and Jaguar I have are superb, more than the equal of the Japanese guitars I have owned and played, particularly when you factor in pickups.ekwatts wrote:Yeah, I know, just seems odd to have those crazy Mezcans priced as highly as the Japanese ones. It's not tradition, and as a guitarist, I am afraid when companies break from tradition.Mike wrote:They are of equivalent quality, Eric.
