The last 2 are awesome! Printing them must cost quite a bit? He definitely should try making a bit of money, or at least enough to fund the printing...

These are ALL awesome. Flyer Art is probably my favourite form of illustrated art.
For those who are interested in this kind of thing, there is a great book called Gig Posters, featuring some of the very best in the feild.
People like Dan Stiles, Josh Rickun, The Heads Of State, Burlesque of North America and as a matter of course, Seripop.
It is being released very soon but It's available for pre-order here.

Nice, I love this stuff. I bought a girl I liked a really good flyer art book from the MOMA in NYC, wish I'd have kept it for myself/bought one for myself.

There are also some old greats from the 80s, and then WAY OLD greats from the 60s.

Holy crap--look at this LIST of names for poster designers at gig poster.com. I had better keep my day job. This is why Shephard Fairey is notable among guerilla/graffiti artists.

Fuckin Ay, guys. Look at this stuff! I found a mother lode of poster and CD art. This is so motivating.

I think the only hope for anyone who wants to design posters or CDs is to study what's being done and figure out ways to stand out. Use photos, sketches, and anything else to get the edge. Art is disposable. There are so many good artists out there, just like bands. The good news is that they can now compete at a global level, instead of making little posters for the local pub. The other good news is that with sites like these, we can reap the benefit of seeing what is being done all over the place. Bands, venues, theaters, and clubs are just as eager to find unique art as the artists are gigs. Word harder! Don't rely on convention, geometry, cool typefaces, or bright colors alone.

Yeah dude. there's hours of awesome browsing there.

Speaking of the legends, check out Coop!

I would pay stupid money for an original print of that Ministry/Jesus Lizard one, on page 3.

I pimp them as much as I can because they are awesome and fully deserving of it.
Check these cats out:
