How, in theory, would I be able to get one of these into my possession ?!?!?
Anyone ever done it?

email Ishibashi they are pretty quick at responding with cost and shipping. They take bank transfer.
I got my jag from Japan and it took about a week.

That'll be my cue to disappear and do some calculations and work out how long it'll take me to afford one...

Out of interest... did you have to pay customs charges?

I've imported 3 guitars - had to pay charges twice, got away with it on my Jag though.

i have heard a few good stories about the jap import stuff.
its a few holes to jump thru, and you gotta be able to contact them direct somehow(thanks to fender u.s.)
altho i liked my avri better than my 96 jap jag, altho with the one i just bought i may be able to love it just the same.

Same same. I'd like to echo everything Lamp said - go the Ishibashi route. Not quite as cheap as it used to be, though, but amazing guitars.

I bought a Mustang from Stringnet, but I'm not sure if they still ship to the UK. I had to pay £80 customs charges but the guitar still ended up being cheaper than buying it from the UK. It's nearly £600 for a '65 Mustang from the UK... they are worth half of that.

support@stringnet.co.jp

Email them. I was close to buying an OCR JGS-83 from them a while back and they'll ship worldwide. The website changed since I was there last, so I can't be arsed to look into it further for you, but I hope it works out for you.

That's the GRB JGS-86 you want. I have the GMB JGS-86 and it rules. You won't be upset.

it would work but all the shipping and costs would make it damned expensive. Also, you would obviously have to have someone there pick it up and re-ship to here.

Ah, the flaws in my idea, it's also good that it's just that too. Thanks for the answer.

Someone might of suggested this but, what about ebay?
If not... and you REALLY want it, bite the bullet and pay the crushing shipping.
