How bad are feedback problems using overdrive with semi-hollows? I've heard that they're prone to feedback, but since I've never owned one, nor had the chance to crank one up with some overdrive, I have no idea. I've toyed with the idea of picking up a Gretsch or a Thinline Tele recently.
I used to own an Epiphone Casino, and that would feedback a lot quicker than any of my other guitars. Like Zaphod said, though, it was manageable, and I could control it as long I didn't ring out notes for too long.
I might make a trip to Fucktard Center today & see if they have one of these I can test drive:
For under $500, the features look great, and I've dug the few Gretsches I've tinkered with before. This one has had me sportin' wood the last few days.
those are awesome looking guitars. I've only owned really cheap japanese semi hollow body guitars, which all made terrible noise.
They were great, but im assuming nicer ones dont feed back so much.

Yeah, loving the look. An LP look, but different enough that I like it. There's also a solidbody in that price range, the Corvette, that I want to check out.
They're made in China, but the reviews I've read say the workmanship is really good.
^ I tried one of those out, HEAVY AS FUCK. Like it was 50lbs or some shit. I didn't really like the way the neck felt, so i never got around to plugging it in.
I've got an artcore and the feedback is controllable and i love feedback+bigsby.
The sqeally sound is more the PUPS then the body. It's just more noticeable with hollow bodies because the sound can attack the PUP from all angles.
The big roar noise is what mostly happens with hollow bodies - I've never had it happen with my 335 or any other semis. My '57 U1 and Eko can howl pretty loud, though.

It looks like a heavy bitch. I probably won't mind the weight so much though. My Lakland bass was a fucking tank, and it never really bugged me. Only thing that would bother me about weight is if it's really head-heavy and tends to take a nose dive. That'll ruin it.
