Has anyone dealt w/ these? are they really a box full of stomp boxes like it seems?
I'm considering simplifying my rig and doing Wah, Whammy, M13, salt/planeticket boost, tuner
[meaning i would sell all of my lovely Livesley boxes to you gents]
mainly for the modulatoin effects a lot of stuff to mess with.
Not in a band anymore so i want a lot of variety in effects
balls

I have played around with the m13 for a while and it is probably the best all in one effects unit out there. It is really simple and there are about a trillion different combinations and things you can do with it. If you are going to buy 2 of the line 6 modeling pedals you can get all four of them in one box for that same amount. If you are into multi effects machines then this is defiantly the way to go, i love it, but i like a bunch of little boxes more then one box that does it all.

If you want the ease of an all in one solution it's probably one of the best out there, but I would never go for it. If you assume you own a couple of pedals you like already, then imagine that you like some of the sounds on the M13 but you'd like something a little different on a couple of the settings so buy some pedals and suddenly the M13 loses it's USP of being an all in one.... plus you've got to spend more money on individual pedals.
If you just want a broad range of effects and you promise yourself you wouldn't end up thinking 'I'll get a better version of setting 'x' ot 'y'.... then it sounds like a good idea but I could never make that promise to myself to have such restraint and $500 to me is a big outlay, I'd much rather have a pop and spending that money on individual pedals. Then your not trapped by anything.

my biggest fear with buying a unit like that would be the space between the pedals, actually. For example, my ehx h.o.g. has a nifty little 6 button controller for presets and while I love the thing I find I need to be really carefull when stomping the right button. Since you're not playing live I guess it won't be that big a deal but you never know when a band might come to be.

I used one of these for a while... It's a cool thing. I wouldn't rely on it for any sort of distortion though. It's pretty easy to program and use as well. My biggest gripe is... There is almost TOO much in the box. You can't create "patches" either. So you have individual stomp switches for different fx. I bet with practice it'd be pretty easy to know what buttons you have programed where. Live, with out much experience it was a bitch trying to remember what to push.
You can find em used as well. I saw a guy on HC (a couple of weeks ago) selling his for like $375! I was tempted. I'd start selling my other shit, and then keep a look out for one. I'm pretty sure I just saw one recently, no clue what he wants though.
