Just introducing myself here, and really don't have many short scales. I have a fender swinger, which for now is my only short scale.

Not much, but...

The other one is a custom musiclander with warmoth neck, self-made mahog body and GFS minibuckers.

I recently painted it white

The story with the swinger....

I wanted one for a long time, since I saw one in a fender calender from 2002 or something, and it was in a group shot of all the fender guitars from '69. weird, because the swinger was never feature in any original fender lit.

So about 3 years after that, I built the musiclander. as I was building it I put up a 'want it now' post on ebay and somebody replied about 4 days before it was about to expire. $700.

the pup is a 70s dimarzio, and I kept it in there and put a pup cover on it since I got it. It rocks, but the A width neck is a little tight.

i love my 1960 musicmaster a width neck, i grew accustomed to it within the first 10 mins of playing it.
i have only ever seen 1 swing in real life and it was built like complete crap.
but it still looked kool and had the "off beat" fender style to it.

Yeah, the swinger is a melange of bass V bodies and musicmaster necks, so something's gotta give in the QC department. The neck pocket is about a 1/16'' too big on the treble side, for instance. There's also a little 'bump' in the perimeter of the pickguard where they went around a screw hole.

Still, it was love at first sight.

yeah, for sure, when you mix two completely different instruments there is bound to be a noticeable difference.
the one that i saw had about 3-4 mm's sticking out on the top of the treble side, and then it went back in and flush with the neck itself,
and if iremember correctly there was a good 3 mm gap on the bass side.
i know i have pics somewhere of it but trying to find them could be next to impossible.

well, since i like your collection i will start searching for it.
they were taken at the chicago music exachange and as far as i know it was once owned by a fellow name fenderbob from offset guitars.com

oh man, if you like that shot, i have about 30 shots of jags, jazzy's mustangs, and other rare fenders.
the chicago music exchange has a great varity of gutiars, but often times they are about triple the price of what its actually worth.
i found a 67 or 68 jag with a refret, new nut, newer neck pup, newer bridge saddles, missing the mute, trem arm, and case, but they still wanted like 3,200.00 for it.
i walked out as pissed as i could without spitting.
so basically something that is worth 1,000.00 MAX is worth over 3 grand to them, altho they can be haggled, i doubt they would drop the price 2 thousand bucks, probly more like 200 bucks.

Anyone know the price of the swinger at the Chi music exchange? It's the only swinger I can find for sale anywhere and I'd like to know how much mine is worth.

if i remember correctly it was right around 2 grand.
it felt... decent, i supose, the neck pocket really put me off tho.
i viewed it more as a guitar that needed work rather than a guitar i could take home and play.
it would still look cool on my wall tho.
i wonder if all the swingers had the same neck pocket, that would be kind of a trick.
to produce the same in inconsistant peice for 2 years(it was only 2 years right?)

if you are ever in that area its a good idea to stop by and check stuff out, they have always been more than happy to set me up with an amp, and an amp.
the acoustic room is really impressive as well.
great shop, besides the insane prices.
