(Roachello) Isnt thats ocean turq? Ocean Turq mustang bass is my dream bass. Only Japanese with white comp stripe. Do you have a better photo of the finish or is that what it looks like close up?

This is the last of my Competition Mustangs. It's a Warmoth body and neck with vintage parts thrown in. The color is Gold Top Gold and the stripe is vintage white. The most obvious thing is that the stripe is in the wrong spot and follows the forearm contour. I must admit I was a little dissapointed when I opened the box and saw it, but it took the better part of four months and I wasn't going to send it back. The body it's self is made out of swamp ash and aside from Warmoths insistance on routing every guitar for humbuckers, it's a closer match to vintage Mustangs than Fenders reissues. The neck is maple with brazilian rosewood for the finger board. I went with the compound radius on it and I dig the way it feels, it's super flat like a Gibson but has the same width and back contour as a Fender. The scratch plate was cut for a single pickup with no switches and is made from pearl celluloid. The whole guitar was set up as kind of a hot rod. The trem is locked and the tone knob is bypassed. I also used Warmoths modified bridge that works well with the compound radius. I was going to retire guitar # 5 due to sentimental reasons and use this as my main guitar, I just can't bring myself to do it.

I just noticed the neck plate and trem plate while previewing the pictures. The neck plate is from the early 70's and the trem plate is a pat pend. I know they were in my parts box, but have no idea what they came off of.
That looks like a Broncstang or a Musco TM (c) ;) :D
Keep on rockin' with a short scale on a long scale basis

I wasn't going to post it here since you folks have seen the same pic over and over again, but here it is anyway:

My 69 Mustang Comp.

Sadly... I am thinking of selling or trading her. Honestly, I just play it enough since I got my Ovation Elite T.
I have always wanted a Gibson LP. My Bradley still needs alot of work and no matter what I do to it, its still not a Gibson.

...God, you're kidding me. That's my dream Mustang. I like Jags about 10x better, but the look of those is just right on, and that one has the look more than any other.

For an LP... :?

Hah, too bad the only thing I'd trade for it at this point is probably my 66, non comp Stang

Yes, yes, where can I make this transaction?

I love how Mustangs look but can't get on with one enough to justify owning one. I would still buy a comp orange one if I could though.

for the "i've owned a comp orange" thing?

i'd like an orange just for my collect 'em all mentality, but i doubt i'll ever own one. i think i was quite lucky just to get the blue one.

I'd still play it a bit, but I'd enjoy looking at it more than any other Mustang. More than most other guitars really.

Guitar #9
This is a '69 reissue in competition Fiesta red. I'm sure most of you know that this color wasn't offered in 1969, but it's still pretty cool. The guitar was a project that I put together form a neck and body I got off of eBay and the rest of the parts either came from my parts box or I ordered new. I still need to get a set of white button tuners and put a F plate on it (I have one, just too lazy to switch it). It was meant to be in the colors of my favorite hockey team red/white/black but as you can see it came out a bit loud instead. The neck pickup is from a '68 Mustang and is dead. The windings came unraveled and it's there just to keep the robroe on and the neck switch isn't connected. The bridge is.....you guessed it.....a hotrail and the switch is just on/off. The most interesting thing about this one is the split pot for volume/coil. It's meant to go on a Jazz Bass and is 500k/250k stack. The smaller inner is 250k for coil split and the larger 500k is for volume. I also used a 500k for the tone and can get some pretty muddy sounds. I took some close-up pics of the controls at the end.
