Hey this is my first ever shortscale post. Im going to buy an Agile PS 924 (PRS copy) and I was thinking about upgrading the pickups to PRS dragons to bring it closer to an actual PRS. I was just want to know what everbody thinks about them and wiether I should get them or something more easier (And Cheaper) to find like Seymour Duncans

Well, Shad will tell you neither. I love me some duncans, personally. What kind of sound are you going for?

The dragons wont bring it closer to a PRS, the sound is within the construction especially the timber, bridge and top. Your best bet is answering a previous question as to what sound you are looking for and compliment the materials used.
What is it made from? What bridge does it have? What are you sonically trying to achieve?

id go with something fairly low output, like vintage PAF style, for versatility. dont think that hot means rockin, you could do any of those "alternative" sounds on vintage gear, and certainly youll have an easier time gettin teh jazz tonez with lower output.
not sure where the PRSs lie on the spectrum. but have you considered going for a more budget oriented option? guitarfetish.com has some badassed stuff for silly cheap (read: reasonable prices, considering its a loop of wire around a magnet)
http://store.guitarfetish.com/gfsciial2viw1.html those seem alright for your needs. some SSers have had good experiences with them, including myself.

Well my first post isnt going so well. What I forgot to say was that I like the feel of the agile PRS copy (I actually played one before I bought it) better than the mexican strats. I was thinking of getting a fender tele or strat and upgrading the neck and the pickups, but after the costs of all of that it would run over my budget
Ha, don't worry about your first post not going well.
I suppose that what you're really looking for is single coil sound with the feel of the guitar you have. The only thing I can think of is putting in humbuckers that you can coil tap. Although this is never going to sound exactly like what you're after, it should get yo uclose enough that you can enjoy it.

its going fine. you should see my first thread.
soo, i got a "mean 90" humbucker sized p90 from guitarfetish in my sg, and its the shit. its in the bridge position, i got it for sg junior type tones, and it turns out that its way better for fuzz than the old humbucker was, alot more chord definition, and it just has a better sound. more character.

thats the one i have, but in nickel instead of black. there are a bunch of color options, as well as the dream 90, and a chrome ringed variation too.
anyway, its just an idea, but i think youd get the versatility you need and the RHCP tones you want and they are 70 for a set.

I'm going to put my vote in for a vintage PAF like william suggested (if you decide the humbucker route). The SD 59'er is an exquisite and versatile piece..

Oh man, both my first post (and a bunch after that) and thread weren't very good, your doing good.william wrote:its going fine. you should see my first thread.![]()
And to get back on topic, I like seymour duncans, but my opinion is very biased, as I've only really used Fender and Seymour Duncan pick ups.
