I was in Miami at the time. The thing is with him, he's mad chill. I don't think he suffers guitar snobs or perfectionist well. If you're looking for a show piece, forget it. If you're looking for something functional and affordable it's all good.

I bought a guitar from him and an old Danelectro pickup, he only used to sell them one at a time and he would ask why you wanted one, i'm not even sure he still sells them. I think I bought the pickup for like $30, which even for 6 or 7 years ago was cheap.

If you want RAWK you should go with 2 PUPs. The lone neck PUP can sound awesome for solos, but it's waaaayyyy too beefy for distorted rhythm playing. I play clean most of the time, so I don't miss it.

My cousin lives in SF, I think I'm gonna send him in there with $400 and tell him to grab me the best playing mustang he can find.

That's interesting - I got in touch with them a few years ago about having something similar made, but backed off when I heard lots of horror stories on the forums. How much this bothered me would have been on a sliding scale based on distance: if I was in the same city I'd have gone ahead with it, but being on a different continent and all...
I feel like I should have gone there at some point since I live so close. Maybe I'll do a short-scale reconnaissance mission and report my findings.

but with some of the details of this

like the shape of the lower part, would look really nice, i think. plus, that little dip at the bottom by the jack is perfect for keeping a pick.

or, you could take some inspiration from something like this

Ah, I only signed up the other day so I missed those treads. I just saw the pic William had posted and thought ‘I’ve seen one of those recently’
