That's an interesting site, as is kurtsequipment.com.
I didn't know about this Bobby Costello kid getting one of Kurt's Mustangs as a gift - and now his family are trying to sell it? That's made me pretty angry; how could you ever sell something like that? F##k sake.
i got to strum the strings on his og blue jag-stang at the rock n roll hall of fame, aparently it is behind glass now, or there is an alarm or something.
its been about 6 years ago now that i was last there(wow)

Is it still possible to order these from japan?
It always had some sort of mini bucker in it. This is his only Mustang that he played live that was not routed for a full sized bucker.
There is a picture somewhere with him sitting next to it and you can see the mini bucker in it.
Hey I went to EMP today! they had free admission today. It's pretty cool. the Jimi Hendrix section was way cool. I saw teh kurdtz. and there was a whole grunge section with another LPB mustang played by the mudhoney guy (and a super fuzz and big muff of theirs). They also had Jack Endino's recording console, which is hilarious because one of my instructors interned for Jack Endino back in the day and learned on that console. dude is like a non-stop self promoter, always blabbing about it.
So the In Utero tour Mustang guitars were custom made? I thought they were just regular Japanese Fender guitars. Also, I was under the impression that he used JB humbuckers during the entire In Utero tour, when he apparently had only be using DiMarzio pickups; with the JB being installed after the tour was over.
And this is probably a mistake, but I found this:
"One of Scott's guitars has been placed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, one of the six left handed Fender Mustang guitars he custom built for Rock legend Kurt Cobain."
I actually don't think they were custom, because he had 3 sonic blue mustangs, only two were routed out, and he had procured a red one some where along the way.

Kurt's Fiesta Red Mustang originally had a mini humbucker in it too, while it still had the red swirl pickguard. It's visible on the inside cover of the "Demolition Man" bootleg DVD.
