Short scale suggestions

Post by dezb1 »

I’m looking for a decent (and cheap) short scale guitar to generally pull apart and mod. My last one was a ‘satellite 65-t’ (I should have a pic somewhere I’ll post it if I find it) which I punted on eBay. So now I’m looking for my next victim. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Aren't Jagmasters still 249 new? But I think that's more around a mid-priced guitar.

One of those 24" SX strats if you can find one in the UK, I couldn't.

If you're looking to pull it apart and mod it, then I definitely second this idea. Though it does seem harder to locate these for you UK folk. People have finally figured out what a great little axe the mid 90's duo re-issues are so they have just about doubled and tripled in price in the last few months, otherwise they are a great basis for a hack job.

i've had a look on t'internet and can only find SX acoustics, and all the other brands 3/4 size models seem to have a 22 1/2" scale lenth
which is a bit too short for me.

The new Duo Sonics are sweet. Myself, I wouldn't do a damn thing to them. The Jagmasters (If it has a decent neck) are begging for new electronics and pickups. Those are the sleepers nowadays. I'll have a Musicmaster or two (and there begging for work) up for sale in another month. As soon as winter subsides and I can ship a guitar without the finish self destructing.

Vintage or Vista?
'75 and '76.

Image

The '76 is a complete refin. All original parts. Poor body refin, good neck refin, lots of fucked up screws. It needs a loving home. The '75 (blue one) really needs a cleaning, bridge pickup, tone control and ambition. When all said and all's done, they're pretty cool. Bro' pricing will be in effect. You can start talking to me now. I actually have an SD Phat Cat for the blue one. I also have a vintage control plate, new knobs and original saddles ( I put compensated saddles on it). Were talking $300 (red guy)-$450 (blue, including new Phat Cat).

for me i like a tight simple guitar more nowadays.
no trem. two pickups one volume one tone one switch.
thats probably why my next guitar will probably be the squier duo or cv tele.

Fair enough, but it might need a new nut and the switches don't like to point to the bridge. Would let it go for £200 though.
