ATTN: Chicago 4/3/09 the Lust Killers

Post by rodvonbon »

This is a pretty rare show that I play with the Lust Killers. The band has 2 different line ups. One is from San Francisco and the other is Chicago. I play the home shows and the other line up does touring. After this night they leave for Europe. The tunes are kind of Dead Boys sounding and Adam, the lead singer, is actually the replacement for Stiv in Lords of the New Church when they do shows.

I'm not sure where you wandered into, but I don't think it was the Underground Lounge.
I haven't been there in years. Its a couple of blocks from Wrigley Field and in general I avoid that neighborhood when I can.

No Ireland dates?

Harumph. I suppose this means I'm striking San Francisco off of my Bacchus American Tour list now.

its gotta be a different place than, i don't remember where i was but i was with a buddy of mine and we wanted a drink, walked past a place called the underground(i think it was just "the underground club")
walked in, and there was a bar, but it was filled with soda and water, no beer or booz.
i remember it was filled with posters and it looked like there was a spot where a stage was supposed to be.

Awesome, I'll be there for sure (barring a show the same night)!

I played there awhile back, it's a pretty neat basment/elbo room'esqe venue.

Rod - Got another show coming up on March 15th at Ronnies, you should come check-it if you're free. We did Cal's Liquors on Friday (my favorite place to see a show in Chicago).

Is Ronnies over by Armitage and California? I'll check that out for sure.

Cal's is awesome in the summer when they open up the sidewalk.
One show I played there I asked the bartender what kind of deal I could get on beer if I paid a hundred bucks up front. She said she could do PBR for $1.25 a can. I gave it to her and before we went on, told her that while we played if anyone ordered a 'Pabst' it was on us. When we started I told the crowd I was buying a round and by the end of our set the whole band and entire bar was covered in beer. Aside from the mess the bartender loved it because everyone was still tipping on the free beer. Best 100 bucks I ever spent!

I was in Ireland a couple of years ago on vacation. We flew into Shannon, rented a car and drove to Dublin and back. It was a fantastic time and I learned the rules of Gaelic football along the way.
I was going to try and get on this tour if they were going to England or Ireland, but they're not and my passport is expired. Maybe next time.
If you do America there's a place for you to crash in Chicago.

That's awesome! On Friday there was some serious shirtless, playing tambourine on the window seal, some guy from the first band picked up our other guitarist's guitar and starting soloing while he was climbing in the window seal....I believe his pants were down around his ankles and people were trying to depance has ass....fun shit! Probably the most raukous drunken rock show I've seen/played (it was the bassist birthday and our new drummer's first show with us, so there were a lot of people who don't typically show up). There was even some mild moshing in the front. I fucking love that place.

Yah, that's Ronnies over there.

BTW, Do you know how to set up a Jazzmaster? Curious if you had some free time in the future if you'd be cool with showing me some tips on setting it up good.
