More tremolo nonsense!

Post by dezb1 »

What are favourite tremolo abusing songs? I’m looking for some inspiration for when the cool cat arrives.

my listening so far:

The Smiths: How soon is now
Radiohead: Just
Tommy James and the Shondells: crimson and clover
REM: what’s the frequency Kenneth?

I actually prefer the reverse reverb abuse in that song. I love that effect, but cant think of any other time I've heard it used so well.

Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)

This is actually a cover version by Nancy Sinatra the original was a Sonny and Cher song written by Sonny Bono.

The Sinatra version is one of my favorite tremolo sounds. The guitar on it is a Gibson for sure, amp is probably a Fender.

I also like Tommy James and Shondells "Crimson and Clover", Fred Neil's "Dolphins" not a great tremolo sound persay but I like the way it's used on the song, Isaac Hayes "Walk on By" cover and Slim Harpo's "Baby Scratch My Back".

i think my favourite trem sound is the one on vintage vox AC30s (not sure how the new ones measure up). it's basic, but sounds fantastic. my friend has one, the jammy cunt.

Blur's He Thought of Cars has some nice staccato trem action -- subtle, but effective. Coxon has a nice looking Jag in this bit too.

My favourite use of super choppy square wave tremolo.

Good choice, I looked this one up on you tube (Mission Of Burma - Trem Two - Live 1983), is this where that dick from linkin park got the idea to wear ear defenders on stage. I also like the Kinski song

i can't thing of where there is any trem use on "just" by radiohead.

"bones" has some interesting use as does "lucky" (which is trem + envelope filter)

this is risky because the footage on youtube is actually a bit shit performance ..you need to listen to it on the album to hear its awesomeness

dude it's the solo, it's laden with tremolo. not for long though.

it's not an on/off/on/off sound so it couldn't be his kill swtich. plus it's too fast for that and he'd be too busy, you know, playing the guitar with his hands during.
