What is this thing

Been under the girlfriends bed for some time now, what the hell is it, no decal or anything
would consider finding/making a guard and dropping in a p90 and making it playable

Catshit, maybe?
Agree with Proggy, Top Twenty type thing, faux burst plywood body and unplayable. They make decent slide guitars if your lucky. My mate is actually gigging (god help him) with a Top Twenty, he's got a Robert Smith fascination though so maybe its excusable.

looks like it, but its not. at least, its not like the one posted. headstock is different, bridge is different, treble side cutaway is not as deep. tailpiece is different.

maybe its a variation, but its not just like the one posted.

masonite's not really plywood, is it? its more like pressed fiberboard, right? no actual "plies." and the actual wood frame sandwiched between the masonite sides is solid pine, i think. brilliant design, i want another.

now, alot of nice archtops and semihollows and the like had "laminated" tops, which noone wants to admit is just contoured plywood. these guitars are made this way for cost, but also because plywood is very durable because of the differences in the grain of the wood used in the "plies."

framus necks never warp because they are made of a bunch of plies set at opposing angles. martin copied this, and you can see it on their current lower end necks.

yup. they're utter shit construction-wise, you could snap the neck off with zero effort. they feel like they're made from papier maché.

Yeah, and the necks never warp at ALL, so when the body changes slightly due to humidity, the top usually cracks at the seams (on those lower end martins)

Also, the wood used in the plys looks pink under some light - do not want.

both of those things are also truth.

ive seen framus 12 strings with a split in the top on either side of the neck, but by god that neck is STRAIGHT.

and yeah, those martins look like ass. but they play OK, and sound fine imo.
