not a jam fan at all. really dull uncreative music. but I 2nd benecol's appreciation of his commitment to dressing sharp. I think there's really something to be said for keeping up appearances in this day and age of sweatpants and ugg boots.
I dig the Jam heaps, mostly for having that much energy from a three-piece doing a mash up of aggressive garage punk and soul, Weller's voice fitting the genre quite well. Heck, even The Style Council had some real flair while so much of early 80s trashpop had no where to go.
Knowing full well about Paul's affiliation with www.checkemlads.com , I would expect the above Marshall 1974x model with twin target symbols really close together on the mesh. now that would (literally) be bollocks.
Love The Jam. "Art School" was on my band's set list for a long time, and we tried "The Bitterest Pill" for a few rehearsals but not surprisingly we weren't really cut out for it.
I can appreciate the Style Council, but they never caught on with me. Sort of like: Clash yes, Big Audio Dynamite no, (English) Beat yes, General Public & Fine Young Cannibals no, etc.
