Yeah, if you don't have a pcb, use a perfboard.

Fuzz can be complicated or simple, ditto Overdrive and Tremolo.

Octave as a single effect is not simple to create. Up or Down? The Green Ringer is simple and is an Octave/Ring Mod. Have you ever heard one to know you want one?

This site is not the site for all these answers. I'm not going to teach you how to solder, find components, tell you how to read their markings, work out their polarities, design or find a layout for perf, veroboard or PCB and help you debug them. That is what these websites are for:

http://www.beavisaudio.com/
http://www.diystompboxes.com/

What I can tell you is this:

1. Start small. Build a booster. Make sure you can handle that before you spunk a load of cash on parts and tools.
2. Get decent tools. Don't fuck around using the wrong or shitty tools
3. Take your time. If it doesn't work, it's because you fucked up 99% of the time. If you do not have patience, just don't fucking bother. Buy your pedals off the rack.
4. DIY pedals ALWAYS cost more than mass produced versions. They only sound better if you know what you're doing.

Building pedals is not simple, easy, or a task anyone can do. Do not throw money into it before you know you're capable of being at least half decent at it. You seriously have to be better at soldering than you are posting to even entertain this.

Definately start small, and build a couple of kits before moving onto perf or stripboard. Unless you're making quantities of one particular pedal it's not worth the hassle of PCBs.

Sorry about the wait...
But, thanks for all of the help so far I'm going to start buying parts on Monday hopefully, and will proceed from there.
You guys are the best.
