A Pair of Korean Beauties

Post by DaveB »

OK, Ultratwin's Korean Beauties are cuter (the Tele's too!). The friend I sold the Freescale Semiconductor Strat to dropped by. I then realized, the only two Strat's I've owned were made in Korea. The quality on both are outstanding. Anyway, I couldn't resist taking a picture of them together.

Red rock and roll! Can't complain when a Strat does its thing as designed.

Hot stuff, although country of origin most likely has nothing to do with the featured model (as if anyone cared). Position of cheek bones and shape of the roundness of her philtrum column specifically indicates Chinese genes in action.

SRB, the knob is like a Tele knob with a rounded top.

Ya Fran, it's a Squier Pro Tone. The pickguard is not original. They came with white pearly ones (they don't do it for me either). Here is a site that shows Pro Tones. The one like mine is halfway down. The finish is absolutely beautiful. Crimson red transparent with the ash coming through is quite stunning. It's a '70's heavy guitar though (And I mean HEAVY). I like the neck and frets. Everything else about the guitar is kind of a letdown. I'm not hot on gold hardware. The pickups are actually pretty decent, except they put 500K pots stock in it. The switch and the pots are starting to get a little scratchy. It's probably a good opportunity to change things around.

OK Shortscale, what's going to make this thing look good? I was thinking of loading a new pickguard and dropping it in. Should I lose the gold hardware? Suggestions are welcome.

I had the same model. Ash body, really good quality. I like mint green on red but coz its a translucent red im not sure it would work. Its a difficult one, being a good quality guitar it seems silly to remove parts just because of the colour. They are quite collectible too.

yea, this is true. the gold hardware is one of the distinguishing protone characteristics. I would say for pickguard, something white, mint, pearl. maybe black covers and knobs.
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...
