For me with was Andrew Prickett.
Fantastic tones on his Jazzmaster from his work with The Violet Burning, Cush, The Prayer Chain, and I've also been a fan of his production on some of my favorite albums ever (The Autumns, The Lassie Foundation, Push Start Wagon, etc.). His gold sparkle Jazzo w/matching headstock ain't half bad either.

I can't really think of anyone who made me want to buy a jazzmaster and i am not a huge fan of anyone who plays one. I just love the way looks and feels and the diversity i can get from it. The classic player i have is a great complement to my telecaster since it gives bigger, darker and fuller tones. Mostly though i knew i wanted to at least try one the moment i saw it, to see if it sounded as good as it looked and it did. Hands down coolest looking guitar ever.
