Okay, this fella makes pickups that could well be worth making, but can't do demos.

We (punters and guitar-minded people) are interested in this but would need a demo before the pickups mean anything more than some smokish internet story.

Shortscale can do demos. It's what we're good at (when I say 'we,' I mean someone else, I can't).

Can we do a demo of these pickups? Would it be possible for us to buy a set, demo them, and then return them for a full refund? Can we make this happen? If these pickups do what they're supposed to, then they're well worth demoing. It's also well worth telenator sending us pickups on the assumption that they will be returned for a full refund as it means that he will have a good quality demo of his wares.

Any thoughts?

ok, i know i don't post much, but this guy really got on my nerves.

Your asking a lot of money to something that no one knows if you ca really do, of course people are going to suspect your a fraud. Just do a demo already. Why won't you do it?

It's not cheap, but it can be done.
I don't think people are questioning the inputs to the project. They just want to know how the results compare to what you're trying to emulate. It's one thing to say they're near identical and a completely different one to show it.

I very much doubt that anybody here wants you to have produced something that looks the part but sounds like any other pickup. People would be excited if you have genuinely produced something a bit special. Projects like this and, although you've made it quite clear you're not a small builder and this is a little off-shoot from a personal project, small builders in the guitar industry rely near entirely on word of mouth. You see people exploiting that for great financial gain in the pedal industry with the masses of near identical tube screamer clones. I'm not saying you're exploiting that, but the details of the project carry that tone in places.

I'm not quite sure why you're so set against a demo. It needn't even be video and would take relatively little of your time when ccompared with how much time the project as a whole has taken. It's a little like creating a replica of a famous painting, talking about the types of paint used, creating a replica canvas because the materials used on the original are no longer available, and then deciding against taking a photo once it's finished.

It may not be a high price in terms of your investment, but it's relatively high for the pickup market. Backing it up with some sound clips seems only fair and it's surely the best chance to show off your efforts.

You should try the Hagstrom Super Swede (vint and reissue). That's essentially what that guitar is.

Sound clips of your pickups on their own are really no use to anyone. Presumably you had access to a vintage Tele with widerangers so you could compare the sound while you developed your pickups, so why didn't you just record clips of that too? Without a like-for-like comparison I'm afraid I'm firmly in the doubters camp too.

not everyone here thinks you're a scammer, there's quite a few people who are obviously genuinely interested in what you've been doing. but the general consensus is 'let us hear it properly' rather than expecting us to take the word of people who post on offset or whatever other forum.

if that's difficult, fine, no problem. but people will obviously remain sceptical until they've heard comparisons, that's all.

One more time, because you guys just aren't getting it:

I HAVE NOTHING TO SELL OR PROVE HERE!!!
LOL

You're posting an awful lot to be making these staetments. Again I can't reconcile why if you're not in business selling these and you're not providing all kinds of clips for comparison, you would be upset with a group of people basically saying "I will believe it when I hear it."

What exactly is your beef with that? You're coming off really stupid in this thread with your victim act.

You, sir, are tripping. I really don't feel you've read any of the posts that have been made since your return, and prefer instead to concentrate on your persecution complex.

OK, clean slate. Lets start over here.

I'll find an appropriate place to introduce myself and see what y'all are up to.

And if the conversation leans towards WRHB's we'll discuss that too.

All, Apologies for resurecting an age old thread but I think most who commented in this thread, especially Hurb as the champion of anti-douche, might be interested in developments over on an seemingly average O**set thread. This pseudo-WRHB dude who claimed he was 'not all about TEH EVIL BUSINESS' in this thread has just douched himself a nice one and started waving legal threats publicly at Novak in an obvious attempt to corner a market for his pseudo-take on a pickup he didn't even invent. Now Jason Lollar has got involved too... Looks like high-noon in pup-maker land.

Anyway I realise this is of minimal interest to many and tantamount to gossiping about the neighbours but hey I thought it would be good to point out that the shortscale spidey senses are Good and True....mods if you think this unessecary or hasty please take whatever actions deemed correct:
