can't watch the video at work because they filter youtube here because they are bandwidth nazis. so if you answered this in the vid, sorry. did he switch out the bridge in it? that was a big reason i decided against buying one when hurbo was out here.

love the way those things sound, but the white pickups on a tort guard have never really sat well with me.

Miek looks so young and trim nowadays.. you're a shave away from being ID'd, my friend- and at 28, that's no mean feat..

Geet sounds purdy good, needs to be black though..

hahah I think Gareth might be pissed if I refinished it for him aswell. I think it would look great in Black, or with a White scratcher.

Very cool sounding guitar once it's been set up correctly.

what are the new ones? are they not "Vista" series...for some reason the one i demo'd at guitar center just didn't cut the moose-tard..part of it was intonation on that fucked up bridge and the other was the pups...but that could've been the amp...i'm so bonerfied for the body style i'm tempted to give it a roll...could i put a standard scale neck on that body without issue?

I think you could on the newest ones. There were three versions I believe:

Vista - early nineties - 24" scale. regular 22 fret 24" neck
Reissue - late nineties/early 00's - 25.5" scale. regular Strat scale neck
Modern (Vintage Modified) - late 00's - 24" scale. 21 Fret Conversion neck.

I know for sure that I am correct about the Vista and Modern versions, and for some reason I think there was a 25.5" Jagmaster aswell. The new ones have a 24" scale but a Conversion neck, this means the body is setup for 25.5" but the neck compensates for this in it's fretting. This means you could put a Strat neck on it.

As regards the pickups, they need to be set to the right height and then I think they're not bad. Gareth's guitar intonated a dream with 11's on it.

This confirmed what I said. Vista is 1996-1998.

So you have:

CIJ Jagmaster 96-98 - 24" scale with 22 fret 24" neck
MIC Jagmaster 02-05 - 25.5" scale with 21 fret Strat neck
CIC Jagmaster II 07-present - 24" scale with 21 fret conversion neck (same body as previous Chinese Jagmaster I presume)

You can use a standard neck on the chinese models only. The tremolo was moved further back on the first chinese model to accomodate the 25.5 scale neck, they did'nt bother changing it back on the conversion neck (current) model afterwards so it will still work.
The Vista model is apparently a CIJ Jaguar body and neck, or same production line at least and the trem is in the wrong place for a 25.5 neck.

This would not surprise me. It's definitely smaller than I remember my Jazzmaster being and feels very similar to my Jaguar. I've always been able to notice the difference in the size of Jazzmasters and Jaguars. It's smaller body and sleeker lines is actually the reason I'm much more of a Jaguar fan.

cheers fran and mike both! so if i'm reading what you guys are saying right i could potentially grab one of the newer ones, rip the neck off and put any strat/tele neck on the fucker i wanted without too much issue?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. this makes me go hmmmmmmmmmmm.

i'd be willing to see what the pups sounded like set to the right height...and maybe the one i demo'd in fagtard center was just a lemon or the bridge was just all cocked up from idiots playing with it all day...hmmmm....

i think that sounds aboot right if i recall correctly. i'm going to scour the bay to see if i can find one used for 150 or so. if so, i may just see what happens if i toss a strat scale neck on it.

if its a vista series they go for about 400 or so on ebay! I'd snatch up a vista jagmaster for 225 in a hot second!
