ever wanted to see the inside of a villager?

Painting? Routing? Set-up tips? Or just straight-up making a guitar from scratch? Post here, and post pics!

ever wanted to see the inside of a villager?

Post by robert(original) »

well i always have.
i bought this on ebay about a week ago for 186.00
the listing said it only needed 1 tuner to be operational.
well.
that was a huge fucking lie.
the back was comming up so i decided to take it completely off, make a new back for it and pimp it out with some wood binding.
BUT! one of the main reasons i wanted to take the back off is becuz there were some serious cracks on the top that needed to be adressed.
but oh well right, that is all fixable and the neck had all the og tuners and to beat the band, it was a birdseye maple neck with almost no wear on it, great find right?
NOPE! its warped, and the truss rod is fucked. i made some lil washers and was able to get it to move for me, but not enought to counteract the twist.
looks like im just going to have to fix the body, sell the tuners and make some money back, and hang the neck on the wall(i do however have the neck in a jig that im hoping after a few months it will correct itself.

i will try to get some pics of the neck up soon, but im re-duced to using the computer in the sous chefs office.(mine is still down, but hopefully i will be back online within the next couple of days.)

i really like the body rod, its a throw back to the selmar guitars of the turn of the century, the overal idea is great and i think with modern technology its about time someone, or some company mastered the idea, it would help out certain issues tremendously.
