Keeley AD9

Post by SpaceFace »

I have been looking into getting a nice delay pedal and have come to like the Keeley modded AD9 because it sounds great and is fairly simple; but was curious to know if anyone knows of some other pedals that are similar to it as far as the feedback/self oscillating option.

Most analog delays will self-oscillate. What makes the keeley cool is the oscillation being accessible by the footswitch and all the expression pedal outs. $200 is also a pretty fair price for an analog delay.

If you just need oscillation, the Artec ($47 on eBay), Carbon Copy ($150), Behringer Vintage Delay ($30), and a whole host of others will do it. I'd go for the Ibanez, though.

Yeah thats what I was implying by the self oscillation mode; I should have thought out my post a little better lol. I checked out the carbon copy today which was alright but I was searching for one that did like the keeley with the footswitch but they had none in the store that did so.

I think that feature is pretty specific to the AD9 - haven't seen it anywhere else.

I found another delay actually that does have a oscillation footswitch and its pretty nice sounding. Its called the digilog delay by freakshow effects. I think its digital but its probably one of the warmest sounding ones I heard. Now its definitely a toss up between the keeley and this.

An Oscillation footswitch is as simple as a switch which maxes out the feedback knob, I'm surprised more people don't do it.

the boss re-20 has a self oscillation that you can access using a foot-switch. i think you can use a expression pedal too.
