soldering iron for pedal building

Post by dawnofzion »

I am about to start building my first pedal (booster). I was wondering what wattage soldering iron do you pedal builders use? What type of solder as well. Thanks

I use a 25W weller soldering iron and 0.5-0.7mm lead solder.
Most soldering irons will do, if they are 30W or less. Otherwise it may be hard not to fry components. Search for one with a small tip.

This is supposed to be an unbranded version of a much more expensive soldering iron. If I was in the US I would buy one, it gets amazing reviews.

No worries, I heard from the DIYers on offset, they really rate it.

Yup, that's the one! If you're going for it get yourself some extra tips at the same time.

I'll definitely get one, I just need to decide if it needs to happen now or after next payday.

Good find :)
