tele project

Post by serfx »

hey scalers
so despite the fact that i have a couple other projects on the go (jazzblaster, and finish the noisemaster) , i've found what i don't like about telecasters..
no tremlo. its a real shame.
and as i'm not a bigsby fan
i've come up with a different idea.
i apologize for the rough photoshop.
images are small on the fender sites.
Image

its a squier affinity telecaster i'll route to put a jazzmaster tail piece on, swap the bridge for a wilkinson 3 saddle filed down so that i don't get catching strings.
swap the control plate, so that the toggle is near the back of the body, volume is in the middle and tone up front (this has already been done)

the head stock was sanded off when i got it, if i do decal it i'll do a customer decal.

also trying to decide if i want to leave it stock for colour (as i love the finish) or sand it down and fuck it up.

I think the Jag trem plate looks shit on a Tele, personally. If you like the Jag trem and you want that functionality, go for it. If you're going for aesthetics, it just does not work and will never work.

Some people, not everyone, but some people, they do not palm mute. I don't know why, I don't know how, but they just don't. They don't need to apparently.

Step 1: Rest hand on strings.
Step 2: Move wrist back and forth in a strumming motion.
Step 3-blah: Play.

Yeah, but you need to have your hand on the saddles or you go up by half a step when you mute

i should probably explain that i play punk and noise music, so being a half step out of tune usually works to my advantage in the middle of things.
and also knowing how to compensate for that

but again i don' t palm mute unless i'm playing a folk gig, and if i am then i'm playing an acoustic so it just doesn't matter at all.

either way yeah i love that tele.

Any ways, back on track, are you thinking of setting it up like that? Or stick with the tele bride and get different saddles.
