Yup there was some overlap, the matching headstocks have been spotted as late as August of '71 yet there are some as early as Feb of '71 without the matching headstock. Who knows why, just one of those Fender thingsSven wrote:1969 and 1970 had matching headstocks.hotrodperlmutter wrote:
(although i thought they stopped doing that in '72)
1971 to 1974 had natural headstocks.
Of course with Fender there was probably some overlap.

correct, i think he has 6 comp orange ones, and 3 (or so i thought - perhaps he's thinned a bit) were RI's, and 3 were OG.
EDIT: it appears he has 3 OG, and 2 RI.

Man, that's tempting. It's everything I wish my orange reissue was. Besides the color being more accurate, it's got the white decal that I love.
I think I really want to get it and the auction shows 2 available, but I'm going to mull it over for a couple of days. The price is kind of steep when you factor in shipping. I think I paid $980 including postage for the RI I have that was sent from Japan.

Fender (Japan) had the Beck sig. Tele too. IIRC, it was pretty swet, because it was the 60's style in blonde, which you couldnt really get from the standard produciton line, except for the american standard, but that had the stupid satin neck and fancy new tuners and 6 saddle bridge.
High quality, low popularity Ecstatic Fury
The translation on the Fender Japan site gave me a laugh.

Fender Japan have done a BECK Telecaster for ages. Never seen a BECK Mustang before though.
