You can't stain something rosewood. You can only stain it the colour of rosewood, ie a reddy brown.

The grain and feel of both woods is completely different.

I'm guessing that the stuff is gonna get all over your fingers when you play for any length of time.

That neck looks awful, by the way. It looks exactly like somebody got busy with a rag and some woodstain.

I know it's been said before, but staining the back of a maple neck darker is entirely inexplicable and you've made it look much worse.
