got myself squier bronco bass few weeks ago, and was thinking to finish the neck with acrylic laquer (i like glossy necks).
while i was browsing at a paint shop, i was thought about painting the headstock or even to refin the body.
the question is this: the dude at the shop told me that his paints don't need a coat of laquer on top, and that it wouldn't even work. he sells automotive paint. should i search for another type of paint or go with advice of the merchant?
also, what color would you recomment for a maple neck? considering i'm doing matching headstock.

how i understand guitar finishing goes like this: primer coat, then few coats of color, and then the clear coat. the dude told me that with his paint i wouldn't need the clear coat. seems odd, and that's what i was asking about.mage wrote:a coat of lacquer on top? of what? please explain more about what it is exactly you're trying to do.
