Sonic Youth signature Jazzmasters (official)

Post by Aeon »

http://www.fender.com/sonicyouth/

I'd be interested to see if the widerangers are actually constructed like the originals or if they're just voiced like them. The other question is where these are being constructed -- my guess is on America, but they did do the Mascis model in Japan.

I think these look great on paper -- they have all the mods you'd want to do right out of the box, and the color choice are pretty cool in my opinion. I doubt I'd be getting one any time soon, but I'd consider one over an AVRI model.

Do want Jazzblaster, but I bet it'd be cheaper to build my own.

I bet they're MIM, like the mascismaster, and I bet they have the same WRRIs as the '72 tele custom/deluxes. They sound epic though.

"newly revoiced and improved Fender wide range humbucker"

O RLY?

yea, so I would say japan. I'm still rather irked by the price bump on the mascis. that was so stupid of them; they bumped it right out of so many Dino Jr. fans price range. it'll probably be the same for these though. :?

Are those really the tuning/gauges they use?

The black anodized aluminium pickguard is a nice touch. If I hadn't already just bought another Jazzmaster then I'd probably have grabbed one of these straight away, I'll most likely have to wait until next year now. :(

I do like the look of these. Sig guitars seem contrary to the whole sonic youth thing though. Would SY buy sig guitars? No.

That said, they've made some great music and deserve to coin-in.

LOL just noticed the ginger pony-tail guy in the lower right-hand corner.

Mike makes it his business to be wrong about Sonic Youth.

I'd rather listen to sonic Youth having a group shit in a slaughter house for a week than suffer through an elliot smith record.

ahahahaha, you must be referring to their appearence on Seventh Heaven a few years back? Or their major label record contract? or their music's inclusion on numerous big studio films? Surely not that they let a company make guitars for them...
