New Boss Fender Reverb Pedal

Post by Mike »

Seems to take the COSM stuff they're doing with Fender to the Reverb only market:

A classic reborn — the legendary sound of the 1963 Fender® Spring Reverb returns as a modern stompbox. BOSS and Fender® USA have collaborated to create the FRV-1, a stunning recreation of the legendary ’63 Fender® Reverb via COSM technology. The FRV-1 puts that timeless tube-driven reverb sound under your foot in a tough, reliable compact pedal.

A Timeless Classic — the Fender® ReverbThe original '63 Fender® Spring Reverb is the sound that launched the surf-music phenomenon, and is a staple of rockabilly, country, and blues. Later, it became commonplace in grunge and other modern genres. Now the same legendary sound can be had in an affordable, rugged compact pedal.
It's a shame it'll probably be pretty expensive like the DR and BM pedals.

This is very likely to succeed my FDR-1. Much as I love the FDR-1, the random pings and splats from the reverb (part of its "character") and the difficulty in getting a properly clean tone out of it can be irksome. Also, I don't need the vibrato function.

After seeing the amount of knobs on the other two I was hoping for more flexibility than what it looks like it has based on the controls.
Shabba.

It has the same controls as an original unit. I'm pretty sure anyone interested in this because they want to reproduce that sound would have spazzed at there being extra controls.

I like a tone control on reverb - I just hope they did better than the crap in the Deluxe Reverb pedal.

Incidentally, anyone seen this:

Digital reverb kit for $65! The digital components are all self-contained, so you only need to solder in a regulator and a couple boost/buffer stages.

I have yet to hear a better reverb pedal than the EHX Holy Grail, and that only has one knob and three parameters (one of which is useless), so I don't really see the "lack" of knobs as a slight against this pedal.

I thought this came out a while ago?

Anyhow, he gets some cool tone in that video; might want.

Oof, accidental 2 day bump.
